Deep underground, in the Caves of Han, water has been dripping along the stalactites for centuries, and above ground the wildlife park shows you Europe's "Big Five": bison, wolf, brown bear, lynx and wolverine. Han-sur-Lesse is the big adventure of the Ardennes, especially with kids. From London it is about 5 h 20 min driving via the Channel Tunnel, plus the 35-minute crossing.

By Arjan Zuur · figures checked on 21 October 2026, prices 22 October 2026, route from London 24 October 2026 · About us

Next to the Domaine des Grottes de Han are the town of Rochefort with its Trappist abbey, the moated castle of Lavaux-Sainte-Anne and, an hour's drive away, the Fondry des Chiens near Nismes, a special limestone landscape on the edge of the Ardennes.

Below you will find the route from London, the four places at a glance, all 2026 prices (including the PassHan combination tickets), three addresses with wellness and local tips.

If you rent a holiday home, ask whether the extra costs are included, fixed per night or charged by meter; those are the three forms Gîtes de Wallonie mentions. A concrete example: the description of Le Trésor de Han says firewood is charged "by use". Ask beforehand what that costs per bag or per night.
